Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 often referred to professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female to be signed with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. Dreamville Records released her debut EP titled Pho in October of 2016 when she began getting noticed. Her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox released her music to the internet in 2012 when she released the Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014, she continued to release her music on the internet, including her self released single Bound. On 21st of July the 21st of July in 2015 Omen was featured on Elephant Eyes song"Sweat it Out.. Later that year her music was circulating throughout the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some references for Rihanna. On December 8 that she was signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat was her contribution to The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. The singer released Pho, her debut EP, on Oct 21, 2016. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and performed as an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. Also, she was featured on the tracks Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus along with Bas the label's co-founders. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018. The music video later released in September. Then, on the 9th of November 2018 she dropped two additional singles titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Two additional singles were also released by her on November 13 Pedigree and No One. She appeared with Cole in The Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby On November 16, and then released the song as a single by herself on her debut album. The 20th of February, 2019, a music clip was released to promote the song. It has already received nearly three millions views on YouTube within its first week. She was the supporting act for 6LACK in the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December of 2018.
