The death of Selena triggered an emotional response within the Latino culture that can be similar in a way to Elvis Presley, and John Lennon. Selena was a hugely loved singer by Latinos throughout North America. But her music was a hit with both the young and old. Selena was a hot and flamboyant stage performer who was sometimes known as the Latina Madonna. On stage, Selena was an outstanding role model, as she actively participated in antidrug and AIDS campaigns.
